From time immemorial, a decent home to shelter us from the cyclical
ebb and flow of nature has been a universal need. However, for the numerous people around the world who live in
poverty, a place where they can call a respectable home is a luxury beyond their means. What they can assemble for shelter
is what they make do out of discarded materials such as dry leaves, plastic coverings, old newspapers, etc. Their flimsy dwellings
do not provide adequate protection when nature comes knocking at the door with her raging storms and torrential rains. The
people are said to literally “take the heavens as their roof and the earth as their floor.” Through the support
of our donors, Metta
Heart heeded
the call of families in need of sufficient housing by constructing homes for them. The selected recipients are hard-working
families who demonstrate a need for upgrading their living quarters.
This is one of our most supported projects as we respond to the requests of these families.
It is said that, “it takes hands to build a house, but only hearts can build a home.” (author anonymous) From
the generous hearts of our donors, homes are being built to welcome the families to their new hearth.
Below are photos
of homes we have built to date.
